Material Options

All materials offered by OMT are tested to withstand harsh marine environments. When choosing the right material for your panel, it’s important to consider factors such as panel size, mounting method, number of accessories, and overall design. These details help determine the most suitable material and ideal thickness for your application.

Please refer to the table below to help you choose the best material option for your needs.

Dura-Matte & Glossy Black Acrylic

  • Clean, straight laser-cut edges

  • Mounting options: screws or double-sided tape

  • Cost-effective material choice

  • Faster turnaround time compared to other materials (carbon & dura-matte)

Non-backlit Materials

A great option when backlighting isn't required. These panels are available only in 3mm thickness and offer a quicker turnaround time compared to other materials.

Features:

  • 3mm material thickness

  • Clean, straight laser-cut edges

  • Mounting options: screws or double-sided tape

  • Most cost-effective material option

  • Faster turnaround time than other materials

Dura-Matte

Dura-Matte is a favourite material among boat owners thanks to its practical advantages and stylish appearance. Its lightly textured surface helps hide fingerprints, watermarks, and light scratches, making it an excellent low-maintenance option.

Panel thickness depends on space, support, and the number of components. We typically use 6mm or 10mm for a clean and sturdy finish.

For labelling and branding, we use flush-mounted acrylic inserts to create clean and long-lasting graphics such as switch names or boat logos. These can match the panel’s matte finish or be made in gloss to stand out as a feature. You can also choose between rounded or bevelled edges, with optional hand polishing for a premium touch.

We offer several mounting options, including standard screw or adhesive fixing, or reverse-mounted bolts for a smooth, hardware-free appearance.

All of our dash panels are custom-made to suit your needs—no matter the size or shape.
For standard shapes, detailed measurements are all we require. For more complex layouts, we’ll need either a template or the original dash panel.

Premium
Glossy Black Acrylic

Glossy black dash panels have become the new industry standard for modern boats.
They provide a sleek, elegant finish and allow all gauges and screens to blend in seamlessly.

We use various panel thicknesses depending on the available space, the level of support behind the panel, and the number of accessories to be mounted. Our most commonly used materials are 6mm and 10mm glossy black acrylic.

All graphics—including switch labels and boat logos—are created using flush-mounted acrylic inserts for a professional, durable finish. Panel edges can be rounded or bevelled, with the option of hand polishing for a premium look.

In addition to traditional mounting methods (screws or adhesives), we also offer reverse-mounted bolts for a clean, fastener-free appearance.

We can design and fabricate custom dash panels in any size or shape.
For regular-shaped panels, we just need accurate measurements. For irregular shapes, a physical template or the original dash panel is required.

Carbon Fibre

Our 4mm gloss finish carbon fibre is one of the top choices when it comes to combining durability with a timeless, high-end appearance. Whether you’re after a compact control panel or a full-sized dash panel, carbon fibre offers strength, rigidity, and a sleek, modern look that suits both classic and contemporary boat designs.

These panels are compatible with both rocker switches and push button switches, (either in stainless steel or black anodised finishes) giving you flexibility to match your style and functionality needs.

For graphics—such as switch labels, boat names, or logos—we use flush-mounted acrylic inserts fitted into precision CNC-routed pockets. This method ensures a smooth, professional finish without disrupting the panel’s sleek surface.

Installation is simple and versatile. Panels can be mounted using visible screws, marine-grade adhesives, or hidden bolts for a seamless, floating appearance.

Matte & Glossy Black Coated Acrylic

Our UV-treated, gloss and matte black coated panels are among our most popular and versatile options. These materials provide a sleek, seamless, and modern finish that complements a wide range of boat interiors. Whether you prefer a high-shine gloss or a low-reflection matte surface, both finishes are designed to withstand harsh marine conditions while maintaining their aesthetic appeal over time.

These panels are fully compatible with backlighting, making it easy to highlight switch labels, logos, or other custom graphics for improved visibility and style. They can be fabricated in virtually any size or shape, with additional features such as custom boat names, logos, USB chargers, voltmeters, and other accessories fully integrated into the design.

Installation is flexible—panels can be mounted using stainless steel screws, strong double-sided VHB tape, or adhesives such as neutral-cure silicone, depending on your preference and mounting surface.

Non-Backlit
Matte White

If you’re after a clean, minimalist design for your dash switch panel, our matte white finish is a standout option. It pairs exceptionally well with black push button or rocker switches, delivering a modern, high-contrast look that enhances the overall aesthetics of your dashboard.

This material features a solid black core, which provides sharp, clear contrast when engraved—ideal for labels, symbols, or custom designs. Mounting is straightforward and flexible; panels can be secured using screws, neutral-cure silicone, or high-bond double-sided tape based on your installation preference.

However, please note that this finish is not compatible with backlighting, so if you frequently operate your boat at night—such as for fishing or navigation—another material may be more suitable.

Currently, we stock this material only in 3mm thick sheets. As such, it is best suited for smaller panels or applications where the panel is fully supported—especially around areas with gauges, screens, or other recessed sections.

Non-Backlit
Brushed Silver

Our impact-resistant modified acrylic with a brushed silver metallic finish is a customer favorite—and for good reason. This material brings a sophisticated, industrial look to your dashboard while maintaining strength and durability. It works beautifully on both white fiberglass and black aluminium dashes, offering excellent contrast and a refined finish. Whether you're using black or stainless steel push button or rocker switches, this panel material complements them seamlessly.

The solid black core ensures sharp, high-contrast engravings for switch labels, logos, or any custom graphics. Installation is flexible and hassle-free: panels can be mounted using screws, neutral-cure silicone adhesives, or ultra-high bond (UHB) double-sided tape depending on your setup and surface material.

Please note that backlighting is not compatible with this material due to its opaque construction. Currently, we only stock it in 3mm thick sheets, so it is best suited for smaller panels or applications that are supported by the dash—such as control clusters or accessory panels.

This panel option is ideal if you're seeking a modern metallic finish without sacrificing durability or versatility.

Non-Backlit

Textured Black

Our textured black material, crafted from impact-resistant modified acrylic, is one of the most durable options in our range. Designed with a thick, extra-hard surface coating, it offers superior scratch resistance. It also resists swirl marks and fingerprints, making it a low-maintenance choice for long-term use.

This material pairs beautifully with white fiberglass or black aluminum surfaces and complements both black and stainless steel push button or rocker switches, enhancing the overall visual appeal of your dash setup. It can be installed using screws, neutral-cure silicone, or UHB double-sided tape, depending on your preferred mounting method.

Please note, we currently only stock this material in 3mm thickness. While perfect for smaller panels, it may not be the ideal choice for larger dash infills unless fully supported by the dash structure. The panel's solid white core provides excellent contrast after engraving, ensuring clear and crisp labeling. However, due to its core color, this material is not suitable for backlit setups.
